A Reporter Told Lena Headey She Was "Disappointing" IRL, and It's Not Okay

Actress Lena Headey, who stars in the award-winning HBO show Game of Thrones, revealed in a resurfaced clip from NBC'sВ Running Wild With Bear Grylls that during a press junket, a journalist decided to comment on her appearance.

Headey, who was seven months pregnant at the time, described how the male reporter stood up in front of a room full of journalists and told the actress, "Uh, I just want to say that you're really disappointing in real life," to the actress. He didn't stop there, though. He then went on to comment on how he thought she looked better with the blonde wig she wore as Cersei Lannister, her character in Game of Thrones. Headey revealed that she felt "crushed" by the comments, and we don't blame her.

What this reveals is that as a society, we're still at a point where others think it's okay to make comments about appearances without a second thought. It's unsolicited comments like these that make us question our own self-worth. Rude remarks are something no one-whether you're an Emmy-nominated actress or not-should be subjected to. We should be talking about Headley's success as an actress, not focusing on something that doesn't define her as an individual. Comments like that are misogynistic, sexist and just not okay in 2018 or ever.
