How to Pull Off Glossy Skin Without Looking Greasy

If you hadn't noticed, all-over gloss is a thing these days. It's almost as if our collective obsession with exercise has surpassed our love for contouring, as a thin layer of glistening skin is undeniably in. You know, that glossy, natural-looking sheen you get from a renewing yoga session or after hanging by the pool all day? That's the goal. “I think it looks so angelic and fresh. It gives you an ethereal glow, making your skin youthful and plump,” says beauty and fashion YouTuber Dacey Cash.

We'd even argue that it's one of the easiest ways to bring a hint of editorial beauty into your daily routine. That said, one mishap can lead you into too shiny territory quickly, and that's something you want to avoid at all costs. So we enlisted Cash to take us through her step-by-step instructions for achieving aВ lit-from-within glow without going overboard.В Opt for creamy eye shadows and glossy lips (all of which you can find atВ Nordstrom) to get the full effect. Here's how it's done.

Before starting any look, you need to lay down a base. And since this look is so skin-centric, this step is particularly essential. “I love this Strobe Cream, because it instantly moisturizes and brightens my skin, giving it a soft, radiant glow,” says Cash. Plus, the skincare-makeup hybrid is formulated with vitamins, green tea, and other good-for-skin ingredients.

Now that you have your base covered, it's time to move onto concealing. Cash's tip? Apply concealer and foundation sparingly, concentrating on the areas that need a bit more coverage. Since you're going for a glowy effect, you don't want caked-onВ coverage-use just enough to make it look like your skin (but better). Lightly dab your foundationВ onto your skin using your fingers or a damp sponge. If you still need more coverage, follow with concealer. “Look for products that are lightweight and will stay put without settling into fine lines,” says Cash.В

All-over gloss is all about skin, so keep the rest of your beauty look minimal. Keep lips soft, neutral, and glossy. Cash's pick is Charlotte Tilbury's Hollywood Lips in Charlotte Darling. “It's a soft peachy nude that sets to a dreamy, cream finish,” she says. Dab the wand from the center of your lips, and work your way outward. This will give you control over the amount of product that's applied.

Once you've completed the above steps, you're all set. If, however, you want a more noticeable sheen, you can go back and add more highlight to your look. “Apply highlighter to the points of the face that you want the light to catch,” advises Cash. Try the tops of your cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose, on your eyelids, and along your brow bones.
