This Silicone Pad Gets Rid of Wrinkles in a Matter of Hours

Gigi Howard was tired of getting sleep-induced chest wrinkles in her late 20s.

Standing in front of a room of beauty editors at the Core Club in NYC, the hysterical Southern mom told us she'd wear scarves on a sweltering day in her hometown of Georgia just to hide any creasing she had around her cleavage. She'd tried everything from skincare products to physically duct- or masking-taping her skin taut while she slept. Then, one day while at the doctor's office, she noticed a piece of medical-grade silicone used to treat scarring for C-sections and asked her doctor if she could have a piece. That night, she applied it to her chest, and the next morning, her wrinkles were practically nonexistent.

Sound like a gimmick? The fact of the matter is medical-grade silicone has been used for years on surgical scars or wounds toВ reduce noticeable scarring or keloids from forming. By placing silicone on the skin, a "mico-climate" is created wherein the skin is encouraged to release water, then return back into the skin. Without the silicone, hydration is lost from the skin and not replenished. In the case of chest wrinkles, the adhesive pad smooths out the skin while hydrating it at the same time so that wrinkles are less apparent. Secondly, the micro-climate also helps encourage collagen production to be activated and normalized so that depressed skin is drawn up.

Determined to bring her own wrinkle-erasing silicone pad to market, Howard created dozens of prototypes until she finalized a comfortable, reusable hourglass pad that can be worn on the dГ©colletage all night long: the Sio SkinPad ($40).

In just eight hours, winkles are noticeably smoother and less dense. You can even reuse the pad 15 to 20 times before tossing (just be sure to place it back on its "landing pad" so it doesn't get dirty).

"The results of the Sio SkinPad are actually cumulative, so you have an immediate benefit, and long-term effects," says NYC dermatologist Dendy Engelman, MD. "Overall, after using the Sio SkinPad for just one day, participants said that their skin was smoother, softer, more youthful, and hydrated."

The magic doesn't stop at your cleavage, though. The brand is also releasing pads for the neck, forehead, eye and smile lines, and a "FaceLift" pack that includes the two latter. The pads are so powerful that you can even wear them for a few hours to "touch up" wrinkles before an event and still see dramatic results.

Currently, no product is to be worn between the pad and your skin, but Howard tells us she's working on some formulas that can be used in conjunction. However, Sio does sell a DГ©cellotГ© Serum ($60) that can be applied after wearing the pad or on days when you skip wearing it altogether to still plump and hydrate the skin and prevent new wrinkles from forming.
